the night grew long,
my patience gone.
books & CDs summoned yawns.
my anguished soul, in pain, inflamed,
my bleeding heart, whipped, ripped.

choked with tears, bent on sorrows,
plagued by fatigued, in pity i wallowed.
wretched, wasting, wrangled, waning;
screams of horror, in silence resounding.

who would notice? who would feel?
my soul’s distress, my life’s a mess.
political agenda, senseless demeanor;
seduced by material, succumbed to pleasures.

life’s unceasing ebbs & flows,
corrupt the soul, confuse the mind.
endless clamourings, indolent trys,
fruitless journey, worthless prize.
